After more than 25 years and 5,000+ gigs in bars all over the country, the Jim Small Band has become respectable. We performed an evening of original music in a theatre and we invited you to share it with us. We played songs first performed during the 70's as well as songs written this century. Several guest artists joined us onstage and the whole shebang was supposed to be hosted by none other than Long Island's own EdLowe (that is not a typo, EdLowe is a one word name, like Prince or Madonna). The aforementioned Mr. Lowe was ill and unable to attend so we provided a reasonable facsimile. There were 2 sets of music with a slide show at intermission followed by a meet-and-greet with the band in the lounge.

The band spent the winter of 2008 in the studio rehearsing and recording original material for this show. The Boulton Center is a beautiful venue. The 265 seat stadium style theater offers the audience and performers an intimate environment and excellent site lines. The show sold out three weeks.

This concert is a celebration of three decades of friendship and music. Our lives have been blessed in that we have spent our entire adulthood playing music with each other. What started in our 20’s, living in the band house eating mac & cheese (if we could afford milk & butter) has continued into our 50’s. Still playing gigs and still every night making each other laugh till we cry. Being in the JSB has morphed from being what we do, to being what our life has been about. We thoroughly enjoy each others company and playing our music is as fresh and exciting to us today as it was on the stage at My Father's Place in Roslyn on Halloween in 1983. Our families and friends have been supportive of our efforts these many years and this performance is a tribute to them. After 5,000 performances shared with our friends, on stage and in the audience, we celebrated together this night. It was sublime.
