Sunday afternoons

Mike Guido ~ John Boyle ~ Jim Small ~ Rick Silecchio ~ Phil Reilly
Phil Cimino (hidden, for good reason)
The Jim Small Band played at the OBI in Oak Beach NY for most of the late 1980s. We would alternate Sunday afternoons with Little Buster and the Soul Brothers. We played from 3:30 in the afternoon until 7pm, 35 minutes on, 45 minutes off. During the summertime, these were some of the wildest gigs we ever played. During the winter, we would play to no one, while watching NFL football on 20 TV's.

The OBI was also the home of the "spit that would not die." Rick laid a lugie on some wires at the side of the stage. It became petrified and remained in that spot for several months.

Occasionally we would have "fruit salad Sundays" which started with us making a mixture of vodka and canned fruit salad. Eventually we would wave the unopened can past the bottle and drink. I seem to recall sucking sections of pineapple out of the lug wrench. Phil Cimino, of course, became sick on several of these occasions.
